Newspaper reports in England this morning, have linked Manchester City with a January move, for Andres Iniesta. The 26-year-old Barcelona midfielder, scored the World Cup winning goal back in July, and is on the three man shortlist, for the FIFA Ballond'or Award. The price being quoted, would be a world transfer record fee, of £85 million.
Personally, not one part of me expects this to happen. There are a lot of footballers whose heads could be turned by the money that City could offer, but I don't see Iniesta being one of them. As fans in England have learnt through the saga with Fabregas, coming through Barcelona's youth system, means more than always having a soft spot for the club. The club feels like home. Even Yaya Toure, when signing for Man City this past Summer, admitted he would love to return to the Nou Camp one day.
Although I want Manchester City to fail, as I feel buying success like they are is wrong, I would love to be able to watch Iniesta, week in, week out. There is a show in England called 'Revista de La Liga', which I watch each week. This reviews the Spanish League football, and I watch just for Barcelona. The movement between Iniesta, Xavi, Villa, Sergio, Messi and the rest, is unbelievable. To get to see one of those players in England, would be a dream come true.
But I can not see this deal happening. I would be shocked if Iniesta was willing to leave a team where he has a career of success easily marked out for him, for the instability of Manchester City. But should they land their man, I think it is only right, that it should cost them a world record fee.

1 NO! no footballer is worth £85 million, fact!
2 YES! in the crazy world of football, and especially Man City, he is definitely worth £85 million!
