Wayne Rooney Is The Key To World Cup Glory

Fabio Capello has said that England striker Wayne Rooney is the key to England’s bid for World Cup glory in 2010. Capello has apparently finally realize Rooney’s greatest strength in being a set up man as well as an attacker, and will move Rooney back from the forward attacker position. Rooney will now play slightly behind another forward, which is expected to be Dean Ashton as the West Ham striker got the call from Capello during the week, as to free up Rooney’s responsibilities and give him more freedom to drift away from defenders.
Brilliant move by Capello, to almost mimic Rooney’s Manchester United role, because people tend to forget about Rooney’s ability to make quick short passes. He’s not just an out and out striker, he has the set up abilities that are normally so important to mid-fielders. And giving the defense another striker to worry about will give Rooney the opportunity to drift into the penalty area unmarked, giving England a much better chance of scoring from crossing balls.
One more thing Capello should do, is scratch Beckham from playing with the England side anymore. David Beckham served England brilliantly for a time, but unfortunately his time is over. He doesn’t have his youthful speed and ability anymore, and when he’s on the pitch England reverts back to the stratagem of old in passing the ball to Becks anytime you can’t make something happen. That used to work, but it just isn’t a valid tactic anymore, not if England want to make a 2010 Champions bid. So please Capello, dump Beckham, and put in Bentley.
