Snow snaps up Football League Fixtures

December 3rd 2010 10:52

As the unbelievable amount of snow continues to fall up and down England, this weekends Football League fixture list is sure to be hit hard. Sixteen matches have already been called off from England's top four divisions due to the weather, with doubt surrounding many more. No Premier League games have been postponed yet, but huge question marks hang over Blackpool's game against Manchester United.

Last weekend of course saw Newcastle United ground staff, work tirelessly through the night to make sure the match against Chelsea went ahead. There are no signs of the snow plaguing the country relenting, and who knows how many more of this weekend's fixtures will be effected. But here are the Football League matches already confirmed, to be postponed this weekend;

The Championship
Doncaster v Barnsley
Hull v QPR
Portsmouth v Burnley
Sheffield United v Reading

Npower League One
Hartlepool v Southampton
MK Dons v Plymouth
Rochdale v Charlton
Walsall v Oldham
Yeovil v Peterborough

Npower League Two
Accrington v Shrewsbury
Aldershot v Bradford
Crewe v Wycombe
Gillingham v Rotherham
Hereford v Morecambe
Port Vale v Stevenage
Southend v Macclesfield

I think a lot more matches will be added to the list! Snow is shocking in London now too, and I know the North East is badly hit, if Newcastle or Sunderland are at home, will surely be off!

Thanks for the update. Really didn't know how bad the weather was over there.

So when do the make these matches up?

Whenever the fixture list has a gap, which is rare!!

And yeah the weather is shocking, reached -20 degrees at points. Barely any schools open, trains and air planes not going, is chaos!
