Rubbish FA Final?
May 17th 2008 15:08
Going into the FA Cup final today, Portsmouth are obviously confident, given their competition are middle-table English League Championship club Cardiff. But manager Harry Redknapp as well as defender Sylvain Distin, are saying they won’t take the situation lightly, as the title has not been won yet. A variable underdog story for both clubs, as Portsmouth were successful in defeating Manchester United to advance through the tournament, and Cardiff given a lucky draw only having to face one Premiership side, the fairly weak this year, Middlesbrough.
Although a problem I’m having with the match, is a variable lack of interest. We all hope for the underdog story every once in a while, but now that we’re faced with the results of two underdogs going the distance, the final could result in a dismal match. As Pompey have been completely absent minded, and basically dead behind the wheel in their last few Premiership matches. And Cardiff are a team that just can’t compete with the Premiership ranks, given their lack of ability to finish towards the top of the Coca Cola Championship table.
The exciting thing about football are when two teams play their best, hearts on their sleeve dramatic football. Watching David James make his typical stupid goal keeper mistakes, as he does so often, and watching Cardiff’s inability to capitalize, just isn’t my idea of great football. But it is the FA Cup final, I will still be watching, so please prove me wrong Cardiff and Portsmouth.
And to whomever wins, at least make a match of the Community Shield against Manchester United next season.
