Manchester United have officially reported Real Madrid to FIFA for their unceasingly public pursuit of mid-fielder Cristiano Ronaldo. The nature of the report is confidential, but makes clear United’s desire to end all questions as to Ronaldo’s future. The Portuguese International is still under contract at Old Trafford until 2012, and Sir Alex Ferguson has even said in the press that United would rather see Ronaldo in the stands than sell him to Real Madrid.
I love the statement there, United would rather have Ronaldo benched, than sell him to Madrid. But more power to them, they developed Ronaldo’s talent, and made him who he is today, I respect that they refuse to give him up. Ronaldo is theirs until 2012, and the boy should smarten up before he ends up ruining his career by sitting on the bench for the next four years.
It’s hard to show off and garner attention if all you’re doing is sitting in the stands.
