Questionable Transfer Decisions?

July 16th 2008 16:14

Mark Hughes looks to lose out on Ronaldinho to Italian club AC Milan. My question isn't why would Ronaldinho take the bigger club on, instead of City. But rather, why would AC Milan take Ronaldinho on? He's a whiny diva of a player that quits on you if things aren't going just his way. I understand even Hughes was looking to lure a big player to City to start a chain reaction of stars, but still. The days of Ronaldinho being a talking point for his ability is well over.

Both AC Milan and Manchester City can do much better. Especially if AC Milan wants to qualify for the Champions League next year.

Recently promoted Stoke City has spent £4.5million on Dave Kitson of Reading. Again, why? Kitson couldn't help Reading survive, despite being called a star player for Reading, but rather Kitson never showed up for many of Reading's pivotal matches. When your club can't muster a few more points than the awful Bolton and shockingly worse Fulham last season, you don't really have any players fit to make it in the Premiership.

If you're Stoke City, why are you looking to players that were relegated. Stoke City is already poised to have a repeat of Derby County's performance last season, so why would they help it along by employing more players that really don't deserve to be in the Premiership?

What's with Didier Drogba recently, is the Ivory Coast striker jealous that he's really not relevant to the Premiership anymore? Drogba's agent announced that the Chelsea man will announce a decision as to his future at the London club within the next 10 days. A page from Cristiano Ronaldo's attention grabbing diva book?

And finally, why are Tottenham so keen on keeping Berbatov. Yes he's an amazing striker, and an asset to their organization. But Tottenham is too full of holes, holes that could be plugged by selling him to a club like Manchester United for their proposed £25million. You can find a capable striker and a few better mid-fielders for that money. Not to mention maybe one more center back to bolster the defense.

Keeping one star player just isn't worth damaging the quality of the overall team. Even if it is Dimitar Berbatov.
