Kevin Keegan, in the right move, has voiced his backing of Michael Owen to retain the captaincy despite any possible signing for Newcastle this summer. The right move as Owen's run of form at the end of last season, secured the club far beyond relegation risk. If only Owen can continue his recent form Newcastle could be a team to reckon with next year.
Despite the apparent inevitable departure of the, too good to play in black & White Martins. Who has contributed a lot to the club, but remains uncommitted to the campaign. But rather more concerned with his individual performance, almost selling himself to a bigger club.
And yes he can score, but he's still much too selfish.
But another point, why is he trying to sell himself to a big club, when Newcastle are one of the top clubs in the world for attendance, and the owners always put that money into paying more than decent wages. Why aren't they considered a bigger club?
Is it the vast empty trophy room? The might have been seasons, or could have been victories?
Newcastle has everything to make a big club, money, a huge supporter base, star players, a good manager. So why can't they hit the mark? More importantly, why do Newcastle players look to move elsewhere to win their titles, opposed to bringing trophies back to the Toon? Because I can't figure it out.
