Off Season Transfer Drama Continues

Arsenal may actually be able to keep at least one of their starting eleven from seeking careers elsewhere, as Gael Clichy is close to signing a four year deal with the club. Although undoubtedly for less money than he could receive elsewhere, given Arsene Wenger’s failing strategy of not offering up very much money to his players.
Rio Ferdinand has signed a new deal with Manchester United, to keep him with the club until at least 2013. As United had the statistically strongest defense, this should be a good move for the club. Although they will need a permanent solution at right back, as Wes Brown is most definitely the weakest link, and if Gary Neville will continue to be questionable for the first team, they may need to make a turn to the transfer market.
Aston Villa manger Martin O’Neill is absolutely furious with the constant talk of a suspected move to Liverpool for Villa skipper Gareth Barry. As O’Neill repeatedly points out that Barry has not ruled out a contract extension with Villa, and O’Neill is also reportedly trying to encourage the Villa captain to stay with the club. If Villa have any hopes of becoming more competitive next season for a European showing, they will need to fight with every dollar they have available, to hold on to the one big star they have available.
