Newcastle Loan Options

With the January transfer window approaching, I'm sure Newcastle United manager Chris Hughton is looking at his squad, and analysing what moves, if any, to make. With a good sized senior squad now at our disposal, without too many players, it is unlikely there will be wholesale changes. But one serious possibility, is seeing a few players leave on loan moves.
Just like the Magpies did themselves last January when in the Championship, the teams from England's second tier are likely to be adding to their squads with loan players from Premier League clubs. I know for a fact that quite a few Championship sides are looking to add fire power on a temporary basis, and there can't be many better loan options around than Toon striker Nile Ranger. The 19-year-old has been a regular off the bench for Newcastle this season, but given a lack of starts, there is likely to be very strong interest from a host of Championship teams on taking him for the rest of the season.
With every one fit, we have six strikers, and often only play one up top. That opens the possiblity of Leon Best or Xisco seeking a temporary move. In other areas, youngsters such as Haris Vuckic, Ryan Donaldson, Bradden Inman and Tamas Kadar, may feel a loan move to the next division down, would be beneficial. All four players are just on the fringe of our first team, and would be good players at one level lower. Hughton ultimately has to make the decision, whether the youngsters progress would be better aided staying at St James', or getting first team experience else where. Loan moves certainly seem to have worked for Fraser Forster and Kazenga LuaLua this season.
22-year-old goalkeeper Forster has been hugely impressive at Celtic, and with Krul doing well in place of the injured Steve Harper back home, the goalkeeper battle at Newcastle looks set to be healthy, for years to come. Young winger Lualua returned for a second loan spell at League One team Brighton, and has been arguably the best player in that division so far this season, helping the Seagulls to top spot. Unfortunately, news broke today that the pacey forward has sustained a broken leg, effectively ending his spell at Brighton.
It will be interesting to see who, if anyone, moves away from St James' in January, though I doubt any permanent departures will happen!
