Wayne Rooney was sued by David Moyes for libel damages, because of accusations in Rooney’s autobiography. Rooney ended up being ordered to pay an undisclosed sum of money to Moyes. Which should serve as a halfway decent lesson to Rooney, that you can’t write things about people, that you can’t prove are true. In other words, if you suspected Moyes of being a perpetrator in publicly leaking your interest in leaving Everton when you were at the club, if you want to accuse him, you need to have proof.
It’s okay though, Rooney should have a ton of football money now, given his status at Manchester United. I’d wager whatever the sum may be, it won’t dent his account too badly. Although next time Rooney may consider finding a better co-author for his book, like one that understands the legality of essentially criminal accusations, that have no foundation.
