McBride Bids Farewell
May 29th 2008 03:11
Brian McBride, after four and a half years, has decided to leave Fulham. The decision has to come as a huge shock to the club, considering McBride’s leadership role to turn around Fulham’s season and save the team from relegation. McBride will return to America, and is still to announce whether he will continue his football career with an American club. As he is getting to be in the older contingent in football, hopefully McBride won't retire just yet, as that would be a huge loss to the contribution of American's in the world's most popular sport.
Speaking of America's impact on world football, England destroyed the U.S. in their friendly today, showing the glaring cracks in the American International side’s management. Their attacking play was absolutely appalling to the football world. Which is shocking given America’s decent performances of late against European competition. I guess playing against one of the bigger International squads just proved too daunting of a task at this stage. Which went a long way in showing the many facets of manager Bradley’s play that need to be sorted out before World Cup qualifying begins later this year.
