On Tuesday evening, West Ham upset Manchester United 4-0, and Arsenal soundly beat Wigan Athletic 2-0. Those two sides were joined in the draw for the League Cup Semi-Finals, by Birmingham City and Ipswich Town tonight.
Ipswich were the only none-Premier League side in the last eight, and Roy Keane's boys made it to the last four, after shutting out West Brom at Portman Road. It finished 1-0 to the Tractorboys, Grant Leadbitter firing the only goal for the home side.
Birmingham City defeated Aston Villa 2-1, amidst ugly scenes at full time of this heated Midlands derby. The result was undoubtedly overshadowed by violence after the match, with riot police trying to control fighting fans, with even flares being thrown. On the pitch though, Birmingham were worthy of the win. They lead early on through a Sebastien Larsson penalty, before Gabby Agbonlahor equalised for Villa. The winner came with just six minutes remaining, through giant striker Nikola Zigic.
With just four teams remaining, here are the semi-final fixtures, which will be played over two legs in December, and January;
Ipswich Town v Arsenal
West Ham United v Birmingham City
