January Movers and Shakers

As January approaches, it is that time of year, when all fans, and more importantly managers, are assessing their squads. Who can leave? Who do we need to sign? How much money do we have? Who is available?
I don't see much activity at Manchester United, Chelsea or Arsenal. The Champions really should bring in a couple of big players, to help freshen up their ageing and struggling squad, but whether or not this happens, remains to be seen. David Luiz of Benfica, and young strikers Lukaku and Neymar, have all been mentioned in the media.
We all know that Harry Redknapp at Tottenham loves a bit of wheeling and deeling. But I expect more to be leaving Spurs in the window, than joining. Robbie Keane looks to be on his way, hopefully to Newcastle, as he would link up well with Andy Carroll. The likes of Niko Krancjar, David Bentley and Sebastien Bassong could also be tempted to move, should the right club come in. As for arrivals, Ashley Young has been mentioned, and would certainly seem like a Redknapp type of signing.
It is hard to predict what will happen at Manchester City. Tevez has demanded a move, but the club have said he will stay. Meanwhile, Emmanuel Adebayor, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Wayne Bridge and Roque Santa Cruz, are unlikely to want to keep sitting on the sidelines until the end of the season. There are no obvious players looking set to move to City in January, but who knows who Mancini will have in mind.
Liverpool desperately need a striker to partner Torres. Unfortunately, I'm out of ideas. Unless Hodgson took a punt on a youngster like Lukaku? For this season's impressive sides such as Sunderland and Bolton, the window won't be an enjoyable one. Rather than looking to bring players in, it will be a case of battling to keep the players they have got. And for West Ham, they need to bring in one or two, quality players. But keeping hold of Scott Parker, could well be a big problem.
Young English centre backs, Gary Cahill, Steven Taylor and Ryan Shawcross, could all be on the radars of the Premier League's top sides in this window. Maybe Chelsea should take one of them to sure up their options, and I definitely feel Arsenal should.
But as all of the Premier League managers take stock of what they have got, for the fans, it is almost time to sit back, and enjoy, the crazy month that is, the January transfer window.
