James McFadden Wants To Cry His Way Back To Scotland
June 23rd 2008 19:41
Understandably upset James McFadden would love the opportunity to leave recently relegated Birmingham City. The striker, who had formerly voiced his continuing support for Birmingham despite relegation, has apparently garnered attention from Celtic, and is now looking to jump ship to play in the most prominent league available to him I guess.
I still love his voice of support for staying at Birmingham, as though McFadden was commited to the cause and would help Birmingham rise to the Premiership again next season. But then the second he receives attention from a bigger club, his loyalties no longer apply.
In response to McFadden’s interest in leaving, Birmingham manager McLeish issued this statement to Sunday Mail: 'We're not in the business of selling our best players. We don't need to. James is absolutely vital to our plans.'
So I guess McFadden will remain in the same transfer Hell as Ronaldo, in wanting to leave, but being unable.
Perhaps McFadden should take a lesson from a much more honorable player like Michael Ballack, who has voiced his interest in remaining at Stamford Bridge for the rest of his football career. The German who only has one year left on his contract, is apparently a true blue to the end. Hopefully Scolari won’t throw away Ballack the way he seems to be ditching Frank Lampard.
