Ince Could Have A Long Way To Go At Blackburn

Paul Ince is stepping into an unfavorable situation over at Blackburn, faced with the possible losses of star striker Santa Cruz, and star of basically everything positive in Blackburn’s offense David Bentley. Santa Cruz has apparently garnered attention from Manchester United, meaning that Ince would be facing the biggest uphill battle of his life in trying to get an amazing player to stay at a seventh place club, in favor of the league number one with buckets of money as a bonus. Especially considering the Ronaldo controversy, United will be looking for more scorers.
But perhaps the biggest threat to Blackburn at the moment, would be losing David Bentley, not necessarily for what he brings onto the pitch, but because he would bring that tenacity to the pitch for top-table rivals Aston Villa.
Villa placed one spot better than Blackburn last season, and if Blackburn lose one of the best things to happen to them in Bentley, to their most direct opposition, seventh or lower could become a familiar niche for them in the table. Although so far Blackburn have been intelligent in their treatment of the situation, as they’ve rejected Aston Villa’s first bid of £15million for the England International. Hopefully Ince and Blackburn can stand strong if they hope to take fifth from Everton and qualify for the UEFA Cup.
Of course with players at Arsenal set to start jumping ship at any second, there may be an open spot in the top four available, as well as Everton’s fifth spot for Europe. Ince has big shoes to fill, after a manager the likes of Mark Hughes, but what a way to do that if he can carry the club further forward.
But of course his first mission will be holding onto Bentley and Santa Cruz, the major problem being, neither player would argue with leaving the club, and actually seem eager to welcome a change.
But one hopeful for Blackburn, Manchester United seem most interested in Santa Cruz than any other club, but why go after him when the much better Dimitar Berbatov is available from Tottenham. Ferguson seems more likely to make a move for the Bulgarian, which Blackburn fans should welcome.
If they have any hopes for Blackburn to improve upon seventh next season, that is.
