Hughes For City
June 5th 2008 16:29
Mark Hughes has been announced officially as new Manchester City boss, which should prove to be a fairly career destroying decision, unless he can pull a huge amount of success out of nowhere. With a crazy owner, who fires talented managers like Eriksson, who give City their best results in years and give them a shot at Europe and build one hell of a strong team, Mark Hughes should be set for a fun time.
Owners that don’t understand how football functions are always fun in that respect. Not giving you time to develop a squad. Seeing a loss and thinking, “hmm maybe I should fire him,” instead of looking at the good and realizing, “hey, the squad is making really good progress as a team despite having lost.”
But Hughes may be able to capture a good amount of success, if he can lure Bentley away from his former club Blackburn. As Bentley’s future is still undecided, the lad should be open to suggestion. And with an already strengthening City side, Bentley would only make the squad more formidable.
Although it wouldn’t hurt if he could steal Santa Cruz out from under Blackburn’s noses as well. But he should hold be able to hold on to one City player Hughes will need in Richard Dunne, who was planning on leaving the club, but now has been interested in staying with the Manchester side.
