Grant Sacked, Fergie Mad
May 24th 2008 20:25
Avram Grant has officially been sacked today, as part of Chelsea’s bid to rebuild the team into the dominant squad of two seasons ago. This has been the smartest move by owner Roman Abramovich so far, in my opinion, as it marks the first intelligent decision he’s made. But it will never solve the glaring hole of judgment that letting Jose Mourinho go, truly was.
Chelsea are already set to go after Real Madrid’s Robinho, as part of the proposed player shifting that’s going to take place this summer. Which would be a brilliant pick up for Chelsea, as Robinho has just had one of his best seasons this past year at the Madrid side. Although former Spanish players can occasionally have trouble in their first attempt playing the English game, but there is always the chance for a repeat of brilliance the likes of Torres.
Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly furious at the way Real Madrid have been going after Cristiano Ronaldo in the press. The fact that must be bothering him, and everyone else, is the pure audacity to say that Ronaldo is theirs to acquire, instead of doing the proper thing and approaching Manchester United with talks about possibly selling the mid-fielder. Of course the thought of losing his star boy, after having built up United to be as strong as they are now again, would also have to be a little terrifying. Success is addictive, no matter how long you’ve been coaching in the league.
