Fergie Will Leave

Sir Alex Ferguson has threatened United owner Glazer, that he will walk out on the organization if Cristiano Ronaldo is sold without his consent. The move was announced amid constant speculation as to whether Ronaldo will be playing for Real Madrid or Manchester United next season. Although I’m still not sold as to if any of the speculation has any foundation. I personally think Ronaldo loves the attention he gets from stories such as these, and is playing up the chances of Madrid actually acquiring him just to keep his face in the papers.
But I can completely see Glazer selling Ronaldo without giving Ferguson a notion. Fergie is always true to his word so now it would be suicide for the organization. With Mark Hughes just now signing to manage Manchester City and Carlos Queiroz really not prepared to jump up to manager of the squad, United really wouldn’t have anyone available that would be a successful last minute replacement. If Glazer really wants to burn that bridge, he’d better hope Roy Keane can be pried away from Sunderland, because United desperately need someone who understands the team strategy.
They have such a unique play style, and have for the last 25 years under Fergie, if you put in a new manager with a different set up, you’ll gut the team. A manager who doesn’t understand Carrick needs to start in the big games, or that Rooney needs to be allowed to roam back and forth, or that Evra and Brown need to be free to attack, would destroy United. Teams like that are so filled with talent, that the players have been able to adopt a free form strategy, and if you get a tight lipped stick to the match script manager, United will flop.
Hopefully Glazer realizes what he could do to his empire, if he is stupid enough to let Fergie collapse.
