David Beckham Captain Again
May 31st 2008 17:32
David Beckham will retake the England captaincy reins, for the upcoming friendly against Trinidad & Tobago. Absolute brilliant decision by Capello, giving Beckham a chance to prove he’s the best candidate qualified to be captain, that England has. Beckham has led the team within touching distance of the World Cup on multiple occasions, all while he wore the captains armband. Hopefully Capello will remember this and give it back to the rightful owner.
Cristiano Ronaldo is from one camp, being reported as ready to sign for Real Madrid this summer, and leave Old Trafford behind. However another report states, that after having met with Sir Alex Ferguson again, the Portuguese International is prepared to stay with United and become a Manchester legend. I would hope his commitment to the club that has made him the star he is now, would be stronger than his will to leave just because of a few more dollars in his paycheck.
Not to mention he wears the most legendary number in United’s history, joining such greats as George Best, Cantona, and David Beckham. Prove yourself worthy of such an honor, and stay in England a bit longer Cristiano.
