City Signs Dunne Again, And Newcastle Look To Sell
July 5th 2008 04:09
Manchester City in their smartest move yet have gotten Richard Dunne, the most important factor in their defense, to sign a new contract. Committing the next four years of his life to Manchester, with his new deal to take him to 2012 in a blue shirt. The first great move for City under Mark Hughes, brilliant move for the new manager to sweet talk his biggest star into recommitting to the campaign.
Now if only he can lure away a high profile attacker City might be almost set. Ronaldinho looking all the more unlikely to jump on board, perhaps they should try something new. United look to be losing interest in Berbatov, as the asking price of £30million is a little extreme. But, though City may have trouble affording it, should consider making a play for him.
As also previously interested Chelsea couldn’t be bothered for the Bulgarian, City might be able to sweep in and steal him from Tottenham. Considering Berbatov seems increasingly less interested in remaining at White Hart Lane with each passing day, it just may be worth a shot.
Another story of interest is that Newcastle owner Mike Ashley seems set to sell the club for an asking price of around £420million. To which who knows what changes could be coming for the Toon army. But really any change would probably be a welcome one. Given that Newcastle United supporters are some of the most faithful of any team in the league, they deserve some success.
Almost sad really, that Newcastle should have such strong supporters, and haven’t been able to give back to them in ages. Not to mention having one of the highest average attendance rankings of any team in the league, I can’t believe Newcastle doesn’t have the money to spend on someone that can make this club work right. Who knows though, maybe they’ll pick up a Russian billionaire owner, like Chelsea.
Then they can just buy a team, and a championship.
