Chelsea Has A Future Agenda
July 1st 2008 20:39
The beginning of Chelsea’s new empire is starting now. With news of Scolari’s newest achievement in acquiring Deco from Barcelona, other high profile players are looking interested in joining the Blues campaign. Other players reporting interest include fellow Barca alumni Ronaldinho as well as Real Madrid’s Robinho.
With Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba expected to be leaving, probably for Jose at Inter, these moves would well more than replace their productivity in the team. Deco and Ronaldinho would be very worthy replacements for Lampard in mid-field, and Robinho is better now that Drogba ever was. Not to mention Robinho can commit himself to a campaign, and fight for the team. Unlike Drogba who can’t be bothered to watch a match when he’s on the bench, the Ivory Coast striker seemingly always more interested in his Ipod than how his team is performing.
But with rumors also of Carvalho making a possible exit to rejoin Jose at Inter, why aren’t Chelsea looking to sure up the back four. John Terry has been touchy at best in his defense of late, and hasn’t looked confident since his back injury late last year. So why not a purchase a better back four with that infinite transfer money that Abramovich provides?
Sergio Ramos has just come off an amazing performance in the Euro, and seems interested in leaving Real Madrid, why not throw couple hundred thousand pounds at him and fix some major issues at the back?
Chelsea has more attacking depth than anything anyone has seen in football before, so why not fix up the patchwork mid-field you have now and buy some capable defenders. Ones who can win you a game by playing brilliantly, taking pressure off the attackers so they are free to roam for goals. Like Manchester United’s system, the back four are so confident they rarely need help from a mid-fielder. Freeing up six attackers to push forward and sniff out a scoring opportunity.
Defense has been an issue for Chelsea in Mourinho’s last year, and all over Avram Grant’s brief stint as manager. So why not take those Russian billions and buy a defense. You already have Cech, one of the greatest goalkeepers in the game, Euro blunders notwithstanding, so why not buy him some support.
Richard Dunne wants to leave City, and is a much better defender than he gets credit for. Get him to sign a contract, Dunne has some shaky performances, but I gaurantee that will be fixed when he’s playing in a better system with better players. He’s already the sole saviour for City on many occasions, imagine how his ability will grow with three other fantastic defenders to play off of. Plus you can pick him up for cheap, leaving you a billion dollars for every other player you need.
So c’mon Chelsea, become a better team and buy a defense. Please forget about Terry, he isn’t the player he was and never will be again. The time of Terry for the blues is long gone, and it’s time to move on.

A patchwork team of superstars never works, the reason Man Utd are so successful is they build an entire team, look at Ballack and Shevchenko, two of the best players on the planet who came to the premiership and flopped (Ballack coming into a game after 2 seasons).
Also looks like Abramovich will be bringing Arshavin in next season... can't see that working.
Man Utd to win the title again and Liverpool for 2nd next season.

As for Chelsea, their bid to get more famous players will only move Barcelona's problems over to them. Deco and Ballack have the same role so one of them will be sitting on the bench.

United do look poised to win the League again probably, but idk about Rafa's decision making as of late, in terms of Liverpool finishing no. 2. I honestly think Liverpool need to start over with a different manager, and really need to have the feuding owner situation finally resolved before they can make a legitimate run at a Premiership title again.
Too many Internal struggles.
