In the last few minutes, a high court judge has ruled against Liverpool owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett, and in favour of bank RBS. This means the deadline to pay the clubs debts remains tomorrow, or Liverpool FC will face a £60 million penalty fee, which could lead to administration, and a nine point deduction in the Premier League.
There are little details to follow at this moment, as the ruling has just been passed. But this is likely to mean the sale of Liverpool FC will now go through. The board had agreed to sell the club, but owners Hicks and Gillett argued the club was being 'undervalued', and tried to block the sale. Potential new owners in the frame include Boston Red Sox owner, John Henry. It will be interesting to follow developments over the next couple of days now, at Anfield.
