Birmingham City
Position - 16th
Points - 18
Won - 3, Drawn - 9, Lost - 5
Top scorer - Craig Gardner (4)
Star man - Ben Foster
I'm going to put my neck on the line, and say that Birmingham City will definitely stay up this season. Despite being only two points, and two places, outside the drop zone at Christmas, I don't expect them to be relegated. Players such as Foster, Johnson, Zigic, Gardner and Dann will keep them up. There are also expected to be new arrivals in January, Robbie Keane and N'Zogbia being linked.
Their main problem this campaign so far, has been scoring goals. Gardner is their top goal scorer, from midfield, with 4. That isn't good enough 17 games in. Cameron Jerome, like last season, is doing well but not scoring regularly enough. Zigic is starting to look more at home in the Premier League, and may start banging in a few more. But I think a player like Robbie Keane is exactly what the club needs.
But with Carson Yeung, the owner, apparently having deep pockets, and a good manager in Alex McLeish, I think the future is bright for Birmingham City. Survival is the aim this season, before building on it next, I'm sure.
My prediction - 13th
