Big freeze ruins weekend

Just hours after writing my preview of this weekend's Premier League action, it needs a serious revision. Only three matches are set to survive the weather today, as snow storms have hit the UK once again.
Birmingham City v Newcastle, Wigan v Aston Villa and Liverpool v Fulham, have all been called off today due to the snow and ice. That leaves just the games at Sunderland, Arsenal and Blackburn on. If this weather continues over the christmas period, it could cause chaos with so many matches scheduled to be played, in a short amount of time.
Overall today, across the leagues in England and Scotland, just over FIFTY matches have been called off. And with inspections to follow at several other grounds, that number could well grow even more.
