Avram Grant Throws Away His Job (LINK)
May 14th 2008 19:21
Avram Grant is once again proving his lack of worth as a manager today, by risking a reprimand from the Football Association, by questioning FA referee Steve Bennett’s integrity. Stemming from controversy over Manchester United’s means of acquiring the Premiership crown for the tenth time over the weekend. Calling into question Bennett’s decision to not give Wigan a penalty for a possible Rio Ferdinand hand-ball, as well as not handing Scholes a second yellow card for his challenge against Wilson Palacios. But what in the world is Grant thinking?
The title race is over, and Chelsea is done, Grant has lost, and by digging up a past that can’t be changed or amended for any wrongdoing stands to threaten his position with the club. As the FA do not take scrutiny of their match officials lightly. The Chelsea manager has even gone so far as to say he is happy that an English official will not be in charge of next Wednesday’s meeting in the Champions League final against Manchester United. As Grant is already under fire from the Chelsea’s owner Roman Abramovich, as not being fit to manage such a large club, it will be interesting to see what sort of a hole he can dig for himself as the off-season drags on.
