Manchester United is very smart, very very smart. Now just two days after the Champions League Final victory, Cristiano Ronaldo is set to sign a new contract with the club, hopefully tying him to the organization longer, for United’s sake. Stroke of brilliance by Sir Alex Ferguson and David Gill though, reel him in while his eyes are still glazed over from having held Europe’s finest trophy.
Owen Hargreaves has also come out in the press to say that United isn’t going anywhere, and their passion to stay together and win trophies is bigger than ever. Ferguson has also stated that, at this time, there are no players United are planning on selling. The manager is confident in the current squad, and therefore is looking only to add to it’s depth, opposed to looking for anybody new to fill a void.
Chelsea, in a bid to recapture their winning ways after the big loss, are planning on spending as much money as it takes to build another indestructible club. Which I think is hilarious, because Roman Abramovich still believes he can just buy a championship team, when he threw away the one thing that made his club champions in former manager Jose Mourinho. Having expensive players helps, but you need someone to make them play together, and people like Avram Grant aren’t going to do the job.
